Introducing teachkidshealth.co.uk Ultimately, 'Healthy life' messages may lead to the prevention of many
illnesses such as tooth decay, heart disease, sexually transmitted diseases
and diseases spread by poor hygiene practices, such as common childhood
illnesses and food poisoning. As part of a more united strategy to improve the health of our children
and our society as a whole there is a real need to provide you, the teacher,
along with school nurses and facilitators, with high quality educational
tools. This website has been developed to provide you with the background
information you need to be able to effectively and confidently teach aspects
of Health and Hygiene to your Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils. The
site is supported by an educational grant from Reckitt Benckiser, makers
of DETTOL. The subjects covered include dental hygiene, hand hygiene, healthy eating, drugs education, knowledge of the body and sex and relationship education. Each section is accompanied by a series of lessons, ideas for fillers and projects in easily printable PDF format so that they can be kept conveniently in your files. The site is logically divided into Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, but you should not feel restricted - every school, every class and every child is individual and you may find more appropriate materials at a different level. Navigating around the site All tools are available in easily printable PDF files so that they can
be conveniently filed in your records. To view these resources you will
need Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. If you do not already
have this, it can be downloaded free of charge by clicking here. You can navigate between Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 at any time by using the buttons in the top left hand corner. Resources discussed in the site are listed in the library, which can be accessed from the tool bar at the bottom of the screen. Printing the content of this site At the top of the introduction pages for each section is a link that will open a printable PDF version of the relevant section. These can be printed off and kept in your files for future reference. For full size versions of the figures, right click with your mouse on the appropriate figure and select the print option.
